Diary of My Makeover Story -
Page 2
DAY 1: Questions, Questions, &
More Questions
Lights, Camera, Action... the filming of our show started
on Thursday (July 25th). We met "our crew" (gotta
love the fact that I have a "crew"): Erin (associate
producer), Katie (producer), Boris (camera guy), Sam (sound
guy). A young, fun-loving group of people, who was about to
torture us with hours of questions (but we still loved them)!
:)
The first day is when they build our characters, relationship
of Jessica and I, and our storyline. We did casual scenes
of us chatting, jogging and discussing the makeover and some
scenes of us doing every day things (separately) - Jessica
packed for Mexico and I did layouts and made calls for Get
Out Today (a great plug, by the way).
We then went down to Tom's River (Nelson
Marina) where we went sailing - this was with a few
friends who would tell their side of the story as to why we
need a new look. We've never sailed before so I feel sorry
for Sam (the sound guy) who heard us screaming into the mics.
I walked away from the experience with a torn up shin (I slipped
with excitement in a watergun battle) and a sea-soaked digital
camera that fell into the water while I was doing a little
dance (don't ask!).
DAY 2: Spin Baby, Spin
From being such a fan of the show I always cracked up watching
people spin as they tried on their new outfits. Well I was
about to join that group of spinderellas. We are on a search
for outfits that fits our storyline (so Jess needs an updated
out-of-college-not-a-teacher-look and I need NO-for-the-last-time-I'm-not-the-intern
look) and makes us looks fabulous! Jessica and I go in separately
so we don't know what the other is wearing (can I tell you
how hard it was for me not to spill the beans that night?)
The boutique of choice was Nove, in Red Bank, a high-end
women's clothing store that has wonderful pieces that I could
never afford (but wish I could).

With every outfit the stylist (he he - I had a stylist - Larry
who dresses Eric Nies from MTV's The Real World!) discusses
what you are wearing and why he loves or hates it. After that
we spin and spin and dance for the camera. A very funny and
frustrating experience. Because although we might do such
scenes in the privacy of our home it's awkward doing it for
strangers, in bright day light for the nation to watch!
It was a short day, but we needed to prepare for the final
and big day. Oh wait, we can't leave out the embarassing blooper
(I can say it because it wasn't me). This is how the story
goes (since I wasn't there): As Jessica's "stylist"
(Ron - Nove's owner) was describing a blue silk backless blouse
he lightly touched the shoulder to showoff it's beauty...
well in a rather quick moment he ended up showing Jessica's
boob for all the nation to see! (ha ha). (Stay tuned for Makeover
Story: Afterhours Bloopers) I don't know who was more embarassed:
Jessica, Ron or the camera guy!
