Decorations:
Jackolanterns & Gords
Black lights
Ghosts - particularly from trees in the front yard.
Use old white sheets (you can even purchase these from
some place like Good Will) Place a large towel in the center
to give you a nice round head, wrap the sheet around the towel
and tie it off. Then cut or tear the ends of the sheet for
a ragged look. Tie to trees for that flying ghost look. You
can even draw eyes and a wide open mouth with black marker.
Spider webbing, with plastic spiders
Orange and Black Balloons
Black cat cut outs
Bats cut from black construction paper, "flying" from fish
string from ceiling
Bail of straw
Scarecrows in the front yard
Atmosphere:
Keep some areas of the house dark, have varied lighting (some
rooms lit, some not, hallways and corners dark with some spooky
decorations).
Light with just candles in some areas.
Fog: Place water in a deep bowl, then throw in a large
chunk of dry ice before the party starts.
Games:
Pumpkin Bowling - This is a fun one. Find a medium
sized, mostly round pumpkin. This will be your bowling ball.
Help your guests empty 10 cans of beer. These will be your
pins. Set them up a fair distance from the bowler in the standard
triangle pattern. Take turns bowling with each person getting
two throws per turn. However many cans are left standing is
the number of drinks the bowler has to take.
Mummy Wrap - Have your party goers pair off into two
person teams (we recommend guy-girl teams). Give each team
2 rolls of toilet paper. When someone yells, "Go!", the team
members try to wrap each other in the TP as fast as possible.
The first team to use up both rolls wins and all the other
teams must drink. Both team members must be wrapped - meaning
you can't use both rolls on one person.
Bobbing for Apples - You know this one - fill a big
tub with water and try to fish out an apple without using
your hands. The bigger the tub the more people you can have
compete at once. First one out with an apple doesn't have
to drink, second has to have one drink, third gets two drinks,
etc. If you don't have a tub, hang apples by a string from
the ceiling or a tree outdoors. The contestants only need
to take a bite out of a free swinging apple.
